In order to become a globalized school, School of finance(SF) RUC pursues active international exchange and collaboration. It forges new links with well-established institutions and universities throughout the world to promote cross-culture experience and academic improvement in Finance & Economics.

America

The school always keeps close touch with Columbia University in the U.S. In addition to academic exchange , they have collaborated on the admission and education of the program in economic and financial policy management (PEFPM) since 2002. The program is the fruit of the very idea of RobertA. Mudell, 1999 Nobel Laureate, University Professor in Columbia University .It aime at cultivating professionals specialized in macro-Finance theory research as well as policy making and implementation. After their completion of the one-year courses in Renmin University of China (RUC) , candidates further their study in Columbia for another year and are awarded two Master's degrees by Columbia University and RUC respectively upon their graduation. The school provides an exchange platform for talents in the filed of finance all over the world to learn from each other through this program and advances the teaching and research level greatly. With the World Bank’s strong recommendation , the program has got the extensive influence in China and Pacific Asia region.
The school has also set up a strategic alliance with Chicago Mercantile Exchange (CME) This partnership project intends to provide deep cooperation in joint training program on financial engineering and faculty enhancement . The “farther of financial future” Leo Melamed, honorary chairman of CME and the present president of CME Mr Jill visited the school and was deeply impressed by its strong research forces, excellent students and advanced research facilities. Subsequently, CME explored this all-round cooperative plan with the school .Sponsored by CME, a financial books center is to be established in the school in the purpose of impelling the teaching and research on financial engineering discipline . Moreover , CME will offer three school faculty whose field is financial engineering the opportunity for going to take advanced studies in USA every year. Thirdly , a joint training program with CME and Illinois University in the US will soon be launched to promote research ,practice and personnel training in financial risk management in China. The program is regarded as a milestone in the school’s academic progresses in modern micro-finance theory and application. It is of great significance for the development of financial market and financial innovation in China.

Germany

As early as 1999, the school's dean was invited to participate in the conference: globalization and the Chinese economy, held in the University of Hamburg, establishing cooperative relationship as well . And Professor Vincenz Timmermann, the Chair of Economics and Business School at University of Hamburg, visited the school twice and exchanged his views on finance with the school’s faculty extensively.

Australia


The school maintains academic links with National University of Australia. The school’s professor Qingwang Guo was sent there for further study in public finance and taxation in 2002 . Furthermore, the school operates a joint education program with the School of Economics and Management in National University. The program aims at nurturing senior finance professionals with global version , modern theory and practical experience. Graduates are awarded respectively International Finance Masters degree by National University of Australia and Economics Master degree by Renmin University of China . Both sides deepen mutual understanding through this program and prepare to start all-round collaboration in research and teaching.

Vietnam

The school signed long-term cooperation and communication concord with Finance Institute of Finance Ministry of Vietnam. In order to enhance academic exchanges , the delegation headed by the minister of Finance Ministry of Vietnam visited the school in October,1998, discussing the issues concerning the cooperation between the school and the institution, with resultant intended agreement on academic exchanges. In January, 1999, the delegation headed by the schools dean visited Vietnam. This very time, the formal concord was reached, with the discussions on China’s fiscal, tax and financial system reforms, financial crisis in South-east Asia. In August, 2000, the first academic seminar was held in Vietnam. The topics on the discussion were varied, including public finance , tax, finance , investment and international economic aspects, with the publication of the seminar’s collections.
The purpose of exchanges and collaboration is to strengthen the friendship between China- Vietnam people and counterparts of finance in addition to academic improvements. In retrospect, a lot of overseas students from Vietnam have been to the school for further study, of whom many have become cadres in various fields in Vietnam.
With the similars economic developing road, China and Vietnam have a lot of experience to share as well as the similar problem to cope with. Since 2000, the school and the institution host international academic seminars in turn every year . So far, the seminar has been successfully held for four sessions. The topic was on “Regulation of the Financial Policy During the Process of Becoming WTO Member of China and Vietnam ” and so on. Symposium and other research achievements have been published after the seminar.

Korea

The school established constructive and cooperative relations with Kangnam University in Korea. Collaborative programs range from regular seminar, faculty exchange to joint research programs. The first session “Sino- Korea Financial Theory Forum” was successfully held in 2003 and the next forum is scheduled to be held in Seoul ,Koera in May ,2004.
Chung-Ang University in Korea invited scholars of the school to join in “The 2000 International Conference on Capital Development Strategy in China and Korea”.

Japan

The school keeps close contact with Hitotsubashi University in Japan .In 2001, Professor from Business School,Hitotsubashi University was invited to deliver a lecture entitled “The convoy regulation, Bank Management and the Financial Crisis in Japan”. And professor Eiji Tajika there was invited to the Fiscal and Finanicial policy research center of RUC doing cooperative research project for two months .
