  "Mundell-Huang Da lectures on Economics"

" Mundell-Huang Da lectures on Economics" was named after the famous economists Robert A.Mundell and Huang Da , It was set up in 2001 jointly by our school and China financial policy research center(FRC) RUC, which is the principal base of humanily and social science research of China Ministry of education.
Robert A. Mundell and Da Huang have both won prestige in domestic and international acedemic field for their tremendous achievements in the study of economics or finance. Robert A.Mundell is the professor of University of Columbia in the US, honorary doctor of Renmin University of China (RUC).He got the Nobel Prize in economic science for his analysis of monetary and fiscal policy under different exchange rate regimes and his analysis of optimum currency areas. Da Huang is a well-know Chinese financial economist, who is now a professor in RUC, honorary director of FRC, honorary chairman of Chinese society for finance and banking. He set up the base for finance study in China.
The aim of the lectures is to invite local and foreign economists of high level to the research center to give lectures which reflect the tendency and development of economics particularly of financial theory. Consequently, it will set up a bridge of communication over the local and foreign fields and impetus the development of basic financial theories in China. It includes four series: lectures of famous foreign economists, political leaders of economic policy, distinguished Chinese scholars and “Mundell-Huang Da” young scholars. We have invited Mundell, ZhiWu Chen, YinYi Qian, JiangWang, Robert ,enhanced the communication of the new thoughts of eastern and western economic theory and policy, and we will continue to make it better .

International forum On China finance


“International forum of China finance” is a large-size forum hosted yearly by China financial policy research center (FRC) RUC, which is the major base of humanity and social science research of China Ministry of education, reflecting the yearly financial focuses. FRC intents to make it a famous international forum which chases after the tendency of the development of economics and directes the dicision of economic policies.
After the project's setting up, there have been two large-size international forums, the “2000 international forum on china finance: globalization and financial risk management” and “2001 international forum on china finance: venture capital and financial reform in china”.

The “2000 international forum on China finance: globalization and financial risk management” was hosted jointly by FRC and GARP (Global Association of Risk Professionals) enjoying October 2000,which invited over 20 Wall Street specialists in the financial risk management to participate,having an important effect in the society. The forum is timed to provide theoretical support for China to develop its finance and to take part in the international financial competition.
The “2001 international forum on china finance: venture capital and financial reform of china’s financial architecture” was held jointly by FRC, school of finance and other units. Over 400 prensentitives from world famous investment banks, venture corporations etc. participated in this forum, of whom Professor Josh Lerner from Havard University, Professor Zvi Bodie from Boston University, Mr. Bruce Murray, Chinese chief representative in Asian Development Bank gave wonderful lectures. It’s the first venture capital forum held jointly by technical and financial organizations, which discussed venture capital in the background of the reform of China financial system and explored many problems emerging in the development of venture capital in China.

Advanced seminar of Modern economics

“Advanced seminar of Modern economics” is a yearly seminar hosted jointly by School of finance of RUC and FRC. The aim of the seminar is to invite some economists with world-wide fame to give lectures on the hot spot in Chinese economy and society. So far, the seminar has been successfully held for four times. The 1th seminar and the 2th one were held by the school of economics of RUC, the 3th one and 4th one were held by our school and FRC.
The 3th advanced seminar invited the famous economist, Professor Havey S.Rosen of Princeton University to give a lecture on“public economics” .while in the 4th seminar, the famous French economist Jacques Laffont from University of Touluse gave a lecture on “telecom competition and anti-monoply”, and is also the author of the book “telecom competition”. Other specialists and scholars from eastern and western worlds also gave lectures on the topics with which they were familiar.

Others

Besides the long-term forums mentioned above, we also have some other international academic activities on local and international economy and finance. We expect that through the deep discussions of these hot spot will impulse the communication between school of finance and the economists at home and abroad and the development of both sides. There are some recent activities as follows:
Forum of “China finance marching into Rational boom-building new financial order on the condition of opening up”.

This forum was held on Feb.25th in 2003 in Beijing. It was hosted jointly by China economy research center of Peking University, school of finance of Renmin University and LiangJing Publishing Studio. Over 800 representatives from government units, academic field, financial organizations and enterprises attended the forum. Professor Robert J.Shiller of Yale University and researcher Jinglian Wu from the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), PRC were invited for major lectures. Many Chinese scholars from home and abroad give their own words.

The first financial street forum of “china and east Asia:prospect of financial cooperation”
On September of 2003, this advanced international financial forum was hosted by our school, LiangJing Publishing Studio, the Development Research Center of the State Council (DRC), PRC. and the US-Sino Society of Business Development. Scholars and specialists from the US, Japan and China attended the forum. It invited former US senator Adlai E.Stevenson, the joint chairman of Pacific Economy Cooperation Conference financial market development(PECC/FMD); the “farther of financial future” Leo Melamed, honorary chairman of Chichago Merchandise Exchange; Economics Professor Naoyuki Yoshino from .It focused on the reality of east Asia, discussing the hot points over east Asia,and eventually expanded the our influence in the academic field and industry.
