On the afternoon of December the 23 rd in 2005, the Vice-President, Prof. Chen Yulu met with Mr. Duck-Coo CHUNG, the senator of Korean Congress, at the distinguished guests' room of Run Run Shaw Conference Center , and the Deputy Dean of the School of Finance , Prof. Zhao Xijun and the Director Assistant Prof. Qu Qiang went along. Mr. Chung was invited to make lectures on International Finance for the third Sino-US Advanced Financial Master Program during September of 2005 and January of 2006. During this meeting, he indicated that he would like to do some contributions for the academic development and the talents' cultivation as a Visiting Professor of Renmin University of China. At the same time, he said he wanted to help a poor student afford all his/her four years' study and life fees. Prof. Chen expressed our heartfelt thanks to Mr. Chung for his support to our university and welcomed him to visit our school often and to share his realization and experience about the two countries' economic development with teachers and students.

From 14 th to 18 th of December in 2005, Associate Professor Wei Li went to Sydney to take part in "the Eighteenth Finance and Money Annual of Australia". At the meeting, she publicized and explained the paper accomplished by Professor Chen Yulu and her.

On the 6th of December in 2005, the Vice-President, Prof. Chen Yulu met with the Vice-President of China and America Relationship Committee Ms Jan Carol Beeris who made a special visit to our school at the Run Run Shaw Conference Center. The Deputy Dean, Prof. Guo Qingwang and the Head of Public Finance Department Professor Zhu Qing accompanied. Vice-president Ms. Beeris made the second visit of the Committee to our university after the President Orlins, on November18th. She came to seek a Chinese collaborator especially for the senior international seminar of "the Administration and Policy of Fiscal Connection between the Center and Local" which will be held in Beijing during the summer this year. This seminar is supported by ford foundation.

According to the cooperation agreement of Renmin University of China and Fengjia University of Taiwan, the Finance and Taxation Professor Lin Gongzheng gave lectures to our school's graduate students on Public Economy.

On the 9th of December in 2005, research fellow of Cato Institute of America Doctor Ikenson visited our school and had an informal discussion with our school's scholars and students. Prof. Zhao Xijun and Prof.Qu Qiang attended the seminar.

Mr. Duck-Koo Chung, Rok's congressman, has signed an agreement with our school which implied that he would give lessons on international finance to the third Sino-US Advanced Financial Master Program from Sep.2005 to Jan.2006. Mr. Chung has held several important posts in the section of economics and management such as Korea 's Chief Representative of Negotiation in IMF, Chief Representative of Negotiation on International Loans in London , former Minister of Ministry of Commerce, Industry and Energy, and Associate Professor of many universities as well. His lessons for the class received prevalently welcome because of his rich experience and interactive style. For this reason, Mr. Chung Duck-Koo is appreciated as "the most elegant professor" by the students.

On Jun. 15th 2005, Mr. Duck-Koo Chung, Rok's congressman and member of Finance and Economy Committee, paid an academic visit to our school. Mr. Chung had a conversation with Prof. Chen Yulu, Prof. Zhao Xijun and Prof. Qu Qiang and delivered an academic speech on "Globalization and Financial Cooperation of the Northeast Asia " to the teachers and students of our school.

On Jan.15th 2005, the 9th Forum of Capital Market in China was held in Run Run Shaw Conference Center of Renmin University of China . The key content of this forum was : On the Basis of Fully Reviewing and Summarizing the Historical Experience from the Reformation of China's Financial System, to explore the systematic and non-systematic factors hidden behind the evolution of different financial systems, to choose China's future financial pattern in an international view and an evolutionary logic, to discuss the micro structure of financial system, the deep revolution of capital market and banking system under this form, at the expectation of pushing the reformation of China's finance further.

On May 25th 2005, "Citi Bloc---Corporation Management Centre in Renmin University of China" established formally. The centre, which is set in the School of Finance , is the first corporation management plan on the basis of universities in China . It will devote itself to supply the information and art of leadership on corporation management of financial service organizations. The centre is supported by Fund of Citi with an endowment of three years.

On May 3rd 2005, with President Ji Baocheng's visiting group, Dean Chen Yulu visited Korea to attend the centennial anniversary of Korea University . On behalf of our university, Dean Chen delivered a speech at the forum of deans.

On Mar. 18th 2005, Prof. Judith Corey, Vice president of UIC, and Doc. Chen Hong, head of Asia Administration and Exploitation centre paid a visit to the School of Finance . They held conversations with our school on the bilateral cooperation. Prof. Zhang Zhixiang, International Affairs Consultant of our school, Director of PEFPM, and Prof. Qu Qiang, Assistant of Dean, attended the conference. The two sides summarized the effort they both made from the beginning of the cooperation project, and discussed the topic of the development of insurance in China and the construction of this subject, which was highly concerned by Prof. Judith.
